darkness and light, and ideas concerning wabi-sabi, inspired
in part by visual artists Eva Hesse and Ana Mendieta, with collaborators:

(re)semblance
(2009-2011) a site-specific multi-media project examining the
nature of feminine identity through movement, sound, photography
and video, located outside theater buildings, in lobbies and
through the audience aisles. Created in collaboration with mansurdance
artists Maré
Hieronimus, Erica Rebollar, Marcy Schlissel and Ginger Wagg,
with sound/visual artist Rebecca C. Adams, and video artist
Boris Willis. Supported by a University of Maryland Creative
and Performing Arts Award 2009. Performed at University of Maryland,
Dec 2009, Dance Place, DC, April 2010, and re-imagined for University
of Maryland in DanceWorks, Feb 17-18, 2011.

(2007-2010)
is a movement, photography and videography reflection on the
nature of being present and absent. First draft created and
performed during the 2007-08 season at Winona State University,
MN. Development continues during the 2008-09 and 2009-2010 seasons
with performances at the University of Maryland, Atlas Performing
Arts Center (DC), Solar Powered Dance Series/Green Energy Arts
Festival (NYC) and White Wave's DUMBO Dance Festival (NYC).

Marcy Schlissel, Ginger Wagg, music by Myo, video editing by
Boris Willis.

Off White (2004-2006) is a sensual and nuanced reflection of Mansur's research into Middle
Eastern dance, her Lebanese-American background and her sense
of being not quite white. Performed by Kitty Clark, Sharon
Mansur, Marcy Schlissel, and Ginger Wagg, original music by
Lucas Zarwell, costume design by Michelle Rudolph. Funded, in
part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
(Un)Identified
(2004-2005) Sponsored by the 2004 Kennedy
Center Local Dance Commissioning Project, this work is a solo
in five sections, directed and performed by Sharon Mansur with
collaborating artists Naoko Maeshiba, Gesel Mason, Ed Tyler
and Boris Willis, examining the mutable nature of both internal
and external identities. Original music by Lucas Zarwell,
costume by Rhonda Key, video production by Todd Clark, photography
and calligraphy by Ali Herischi.

(2005/2007) is an immediate and visceral improvisational duet
with Daniel Burkholder and Sharon Mansur.
trajectory
altered slightly (2003-2006) has both a choreographed
and improvisational version, embodying the visual, kinetic,
aural and emotional layers of impact. The physical environment
is one of weight, of settling and unsettling, interruptions,
chance meetings, voyeurism and intimacy. The color red runs
through the piece literally, and slide projections on the body
suggest the vivid markings of memory. trajectory is performed
by Maré Hieronimus, Sharon Mansur, Marcy Schlissel and
Ginger Wagg with original music by Lucas Zarwell, costume by
Michelle Rudolph, slide art by Sharon Mansur.

voice (2003) is an improvisational trio, performed
by Sharon Mansur, Marcy Schlissel and Ginger Wagg.
Still
Life (2002-2004) Inspired, in part, by Mark Doty's book,
Still Life with Oysters and Lemon, and 19th century
Impressionist still life paintings, Still Life is a series
of richly meditative intertwined solos that invites the audience
to witness the literal and metaphorical embodiment of stillness
through the performance art of spontaneous composition. Still
Life is performed by Maré Hieronimus, Sharon Mansur
and Marcy Schlissel, with original music by Lucas Zarwell, costume
by Reggie Ray with Brandie Mathies. Funded, in part, by the
Bossak-Heilbron Charitable Foundation, Inc.
In My
Skin (2001) is an intimate improvisational duet performed
by Daniel Burkholder and Sharon Mansur.
Lightfast
(1999) examines
the subtle interplay of light and motion, creating delicate
yet powerful images that reveal inner states of mind, performed
by Sharon Mansur with original music by Alexandra Gardner.
Sandshifting
(1999) Performed

an environment of contemplation and mutability, as two figures
respond to quiet stirrings just below the surface, with original
