Gloria ~
“In some Native languages the term for plants translates to ‘those who take care of us’… Action on behalf of life transforms. Because the relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.”
From Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants, by Robin Wall Kimmerer, 2013

Cúrate Mijita
by, Maria Sabina
Cure yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon.

With the sound of the river and the waterfall.

With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds.
Heal yourself with mint, with neem and eucalyptus.
Endúlzate con lavanda, romero y manzanilla.
Sweeten yourself with lavender, rosemary, and chamomile.
Hug yourself with the cocoa bean and a touch of cinnamon.
Put love in tea instead of sugar, and take it looking at the stars.
Heal yourself with the kisses that the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain.
Get strong with bare feet on the ground and with everything that is born from it.
Get smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with the eye of your forehead.
Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier.
Heal yourself, with beautiful love, and always remember: you are the medicine.

“I am intensely aware of being, in part, of the world where the first cosmogonies were invented. As I
lie on the beach gazing at the sky I tell myself that the universe can only be a limitless sphere.”
~Etel Adnan, Lebanese American poet, writer, and visual artist, www.eteladnan.com
Of City and Women (Letters to Fawwaz), 1993
via Mizna’s SWANA Literature and Art Journal: Tribute to Etel Adnan, Vol. 23.1, 2022

Note on cosmogony: The word cosmogony is derived from the combination of two Greek terms,
kosmos and genesis. Kosmos refers to the order of the universe and/or the universe as an order.
Genesis means the coming into being or the process or substantial change in the process, a birth.
Cosmogony thus has to do with myths, stories, or theories regarding the birth or creation of the
universe as an order or the description of the original order of the universe.”
